Loss of a Student

Loss of a Student

As much as we never want a student to pass away, when it does happen, we want to respond in a helpful and effective way. That’s why we have developed this product to be used by crisis response teams, teachers, and counselors in response to the death of a student. This journal can be used with a facilitator or students can take it home and do it on their own. It is appropriate for middle and high school students.

Among other things, this crisis response curriculum covers the following topics:

  • Definition of grief
  • Stages of grief
  • Grief Circles
  • Remembering activity
  • Coping strategies
  • Self-care
  • Reaching out for support
  • Resources/ Hotlines

This interactive, guided journal is 24 pages, measures 5.5" x 8.5", comes with a soft-touch cover, and is appropriate for grades 5-12 (ages 10-18).

NOTE: This curriculm is not intended to be used as a grief and loss group curriculm. It is a school-wide way for administration to respond to the death of a student and to identify students in need of additional support.
